Всяка жена стига до този момент от живота си. Колкото и да се грижим за себе си, да ядем хубава храна, да спортуваме и да посещаваме козметик, един ден менопаузата настъпва. А с нея идват и нови спътници – горещи и студени вълни, ниско либидо, нощни изпотявания, влагалищна сухота, умора, депресия, мускулна слабост и болки в ставите… Докторите ти казват, че това са симптомите на менопауза, но ти не искаш да взимаш алопатични лекарства, търсиш други методи, искаш да знаеш повече за алтернативни начини да се чувстваш добре и в този период от живота.

Много от симптомите, свързани с менопаузата започват всъщност в перименопаузата – период, който може да трае дори 8-10 години преди самата менопауза. Много жени смятат, че това е менопаузата, но менопаузата всъщност настъпва, когато в рамките на 12 месеца не сме имали цикъл. За съжаление съвременният живот, изпълнен със стрес и нездравословна среда и навици причинява настъпването на менопаузата по-рано, при някои жени дори в края на 30-те им години.

По време на менопаузата естрогенът в женското тяло рязко намалява. Балансът на хормоните се нарушава и плодовитостта спада. Обикновено се предписва хормонална терапия за справяне с неприятните симптоми на менопаузата. Но хормоналната терапия днес се свързва с някои форми на рак и много жени се притесняват от сигурността от взимането на изкуствени хормони.
